    - simplified schema by dis-allowing const-lfns in TR
    - added Yong's metadata requirements
    - added <use> to temp/declare
    - added default value structure to transformations
[ ] prune the XML according to latest updates
[ ] create textual format description
[ ] create bison/flex VDLTXT scanner to detect flaws
[ ] create Java SAX/DOM VDLXML parser to familiarize
[ ] create a database schema to store data
[ ] think API to access the database
[ ] think about queries, how to access the data
[ ] must implement at least get functionality
